DATE GRANOLA
6 c. old fashioned rolled oats
1 c. shredded coconut, unsweetened
1 c. wheat germ
1 c. sunflower seeds
1/2 c. sesame seeds
2/3 c. powdered milk
1 c. honey
1 c. slivered almonds
1 c. lightly floured date pieces
In a large bowl, combine oats, coconut, wheat germ, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and powdered milk. Warm the honey until it pours easily. Add honey to dry ingredients, stirring until well mixed. Pour mixture into a large shallow baking pan that has been generously brushed with oil. Spread mixture evenly in the pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. When lightly browned, remove from oven and add almonds and dates. Allow to cool completely before storing in airtight container. Makes 3 quarts.
TOASTY NUT GRANOLA
6 c. reg. oatmeal
1 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. wheat germ
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. shredded coconut
1/2 c. sesame seeds
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. honey
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Toast oatmeal in a 9x13 inch pan at 350 degrees 10 minutes. Combine remaining ingredients and add oatmeal. Bake in 2 batches at 350 degrees 20-25 minutes. Stir when cool and store in refrigerator. Yields 9 cups. Easy. Great as a snack or breakfast cereal.
