POPCORN BALLS
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. syrup
5 qts. popped corn
Cook sugar, syrup and water to firm ball stage (245 degrees F.). Remove from fire and pour immediately over corn which has been salted. Stir with a spoon to mix well. Mold into balls as quickly as possible. Makes 25 balls.
POPCORN BALLS
7 c. popped corn
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cube Blue Bonnet margarine
1 tsp. vanilla (or other flavoring)
Put popped corn in large bowl. Mix sugar, water, syrup, salt and margarine in saucepan. Cook to 250 degrees on candy thermometer or until a few drops in cold water forms a hard ball. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Pour in a thin stream over popped corn, stirring constantly. Stir until all corn is coated. Let cool for a few minutes. With buttered hands shape into balls. Makes about 10.
